What’s New on Netflix & Top 10s: December 30th, 2021

We hope you enjoy the holidays, and while the Netflix lineup is mostly packed into the weekend, there are a few noteworthy additions to talk about since Christmas Day. So let’s take a look at what’s new on Netflix and what’s currently popular in the top 10.

As a reminder, Netflix is about to get a little spring clean on January 1st. Over 100 movies will be leaving Netflix on Jan. 1 alone, with more planned to leave throughout the month as well. Netflix Original Series Stop will be leaving Netflix tomorrow as with the 2018 western movie, Winchester.

So let’s now take a look at some of the best new movies and shows that have been added to Netflix over the past five days or so.

The best new moves and shows on Netflix

Hilda and the King of the Mountain (2021)

Type: kids, cartoon
Director: Andy Quill
spit: Bella Ramsey, Princess Falzone-Ojo, Oliver Nelson, Daisy Haggard, Rasmus Hardeker, John Hopkins
the show length: 84 minutes

Hilda is one of the criminally underrated titles in Netflix’s vast and growing children’s library. The main show has ran for two seasons now and is a beautiful adaptation of the graphic novels created by Luke Pearson.

Now, Netflix is releasing a feature film that seeks to connect the main story of Hilda.

Here’s what you can expect:

“When Hilda awakens in the body of a dwarf, she must use her wits and courage to go home, become human again – and save the city of Trollberg.”

Crime scene: The Times Square Killer (limited series)

Type: documentary
Director: Joe Berlinger
the show length: 48 minutes

Getting Great Reviews is another Netflix documentary from Joe Berlinger. You may be familiar with some of his other documentaries on Netflix including Tony Robbins: I’m not your teacher, 2020 limited series on Jeffrey Epstein, the most famous of them, Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel.

This new documentary series is set in 1970s New York, where a so-called “stump killer” has preyed on innocent women and evaded police detection for years.

Death to 2021 (2021)

Type: satirical comedy
Director: Jack Clough, Josh Robin
spit: Hugh Grant, Lucy Liu, Tracy Ullman, Samson Cayo, Joe Kerry, William Jackson Harper
the show length: 60 minutes

As we keep waiting for Charlie Brooker and Annabelle Jones to get back to bread and butter, great science fiction is like black mirrorWe’ll have to make do with the “Death to” special that continues this year after it debuted in 2020.

While it doesn’t come close to being as good as the original (largely due to a change in the book and 2021 being a 2020 Lite), it’s still worth an hour to recap all the horrific events that have happened in the past 12 months.
