“It was surreal to see him again… he ran over and started licking my face”
The owner of a miniature dachshund stolen by a ruthless thief has been reunited with her pet-she said she was “moved” by the kindness of the people who helped her.
While she was sleeping upstairs, the five-month-old Roland was snatched from the woman’s house along with her car and handbag.
She was helped by Beauty’s Legacy, a voluntary group that helped lost and found animals reunite with their owners, and promoted the incident on social media.
Lisa Dean, the head of the charity, said: “After CCTV footage and various witnesses came forward, we received a call from a member of the public and found it from a property in Rochdale last night. This dog.”

The owner, who asked not to be named, said: “I feel overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and helpfulness.
“Thousands of people tried to get him back.
